New Men’s Team Launches in Cycling Mecca

Boulder, Colo. (January 12, 2007)—A new competitive men's cycling team has formed in the cycling mecca of Boulder, Colo. Boulder Velo Racing (BVR) is focused on men's Category 3 racing and will compete primarily in the Rocky Mountain states of Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. Lisa Fitch, former European Pro rider and certified USA cycling coach, is coaching the new team.

Team consists of 3 national champions and former national team members, currently the roster includes: Bart Abriol, Bruce Polderman, Chris Busacca, Craig Wilson, Dave Crawford, Dave Kuticpal, Derek Hutton, Gene Palumbo, Grady Carter, Kris Thompson, Marcel Van Garderen, Matt Vawter, Mike Mutzel, Scott Bilyeu, Sean Crochran, Steve LeBlanc and Steve Myers.

Prior to forming BVR, several members most recently trained and raced with Rocky Mounts/Izze and achieved success in the 2006 season by winning the Best All Team (BAT) and the Rocky Mountain Cup competitions.

The 16-person squad hopes to replicate last year's success in 2007 with podium finishes in road races, criteriums, hill climbs and time trials. The team will also undertake local outreach programs in the Boulder community including support of the Davis Phinney Foundation.
