Who am I?: I’ve been a serious cyclist since 1980. Yes, that was in the days of wool clothing, nailed-in cleats, and no helmets (even racing). I moved to Boulder in 1983 to attend graduate school in physics at CU Boulder, where I was one of the founding members of the CU cycling team. I work at NCAR, where my research focus is on the remote sensing of atmospheric turbulence. I love my job. Yes, people pay me to think. I returned to racing when I turned 45, thinking “this can’t be too hard…” Wrong. But I still love riding and racing!
