Who am I?: Born in the Netherlands, started racing at age 12. Suffered many beatings by the likes of former World champion Michel Zanoli (R.I.P.), Harm Jansen (director of Toyota United) and a host of other former pro-tour riders.
Moved to the United States in 1988. Raced in California for 2 years as a cat 2 (10 pts shy of cat 1 upgrade). Biggest win while in California was the Benicia Road Race, which was part of the Tour of California. During the winters I would live in Montana and stay fit cross-country skiing. Met my wife while in Montana and got married the following year. Lived in Montana until 2005 during which I won several state championships in the road race and criterium. Started coaching and training my son (10 years old) in 1998, and coached him to 6 national titles (he currently races as a PRO for the Rabobank continental pro team)
Moved to Ft Collins, Colorado in 2005. Work required a lot of travel time in 2006 and my racing suffered so I downgraded to a Cat 3. Travel during 2007 was minimal and I managed to win 3 ACA races, 2 USAC races and take 3rd place in the BAR competition, while the newly formed Mix1/Concept 3D team won the BAT competition in its first year!!
